Sale Yitmon is PLHA New Dep. Speaker
Information from the floor of the Plateau State House of Assembly indicates that a new Deputy Speaker has emerged. He is Hon. Saleh Shehu Yipmon representing Dengi constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly.
Hon. Sale Yipmon replaces Hon. Yusuf Gagdi the immediate past Deputy Speaker who was impeached today following a vote-of-no-confidence passed on him.
Impeccable sources confirmed the impeachment and cited some of the reasons for the impeachment to include the former Deputy Speaker’s autocratic and non-inclusive style of leadership.
It would be recalled that Hon. Yusuf Gagdi defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressive Congress.
His defection to the APC brought about unease in the PDP as his defection was construed by the PDP in Plateau State to have been premised on a purported promise of ticket to vie for the Federal House of Representative come 2019
Speaking with newsmen in Jos, the PDP Publicity Secretary in the State, Hon. John Akans, said, “the APC has promised him a seat in the Federal House of Representative and Governor Lalong had also given him money, that was why he defected”, Akans said.
The Publicity Secretary also said that the Deputy Speaker was bent on controlling the party because he felt he was the only PDP member in the State that occupies a prime political office and therefore sort to control people like the former governor, Jonah Jang, Jeremiah Useni and others, which is practically impossible, he said.
Reacting, Gagdi said that the PDP Chairman had equally promised him House of Rep ticket come 2019 if he remained in the Party. He also said that Governor Simon Lalong cannot give him money to woo him to APC. His words, “I make bold to say that Governor Lolong cannot give me money to influence my decision to join APC and I can address a press conference on that. “I defected for some obvious reasons, the PDP in the State does not see me as one who occupied one of the prime political positions and does not respect me as such.
“An elders committee was inaugurated for PDP and I was not part of it. This shows that they don’t regard me. “My people wanted me to join the APC, because that is where they belong and my structure also belongs to the APC. “I won election in my constituency because my people voted me and not PDP, the PDP cannot win election in my constituent. “If you have the people at the grass root, you don’t need to fear to win any election, Gagdi said.
