2019: M’belt Forum to Endorse Presidential Candidate

Middle-belt-on-mapThe Middle Belt Forum has said it will soon endorse a presidential candidate that would identify with the aspiration and interest of the people of the region.

The forum directed the “over 22 million registered voters in the Middle Belt region to await further directives from our leaders.”

This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the National Executive Committee meeting of the MBF in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, and e-mailed to our correspondent in Abuja on Tuesday.

The statement co-signed by the MBF President, Dr. Bitrus Pogu and Chairman, Planning Committee, Mark Jacob, insisted that the people of the region had the right to determine their political destiny.

The communique read in part, “The people of the Middle Belt have both the duty and right to determine their political destiny.

“In this regard, the Middle Belt Forum shall, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, identify with one of the presidential candidates in the 2019 general elections to ensure that the interests and aspirations of the Middle Belt are properly addressed within the Nigerian federation.”

“The over 22 million registered voters in the Middle Belt region are hereby enjoined to await further directives from our leaders,” it added.
